Grounded for Life

So you may have noticed I’ve been a little absent from blogging lately. Or, maybe you haven’t. Ha! Anyway, I do have a pretty good reason this time. Last week I decided to get some yard work done while my husband was at work. One of the discs in his back has broken apart, and the piece has been lodged in a part of his spine that is pretty painful so he just wasn’t able to do a lot. Praise God though, he has been bathed in prayer lately and yesterday had no pain at all. His doctor thought he would need surgery and when we said we would try prayer first he was kind of like, “Uh, ok. That really doesn’t explain it scientifically.” God is bigger than science though, isn’t he?

Anyway, one of the things I did was trim the hedges in the front yard. With the electric hedgeclippers. I’ve never used them before and I thought, this should be easy. My girls were out with me and we live on a state road so I will say I was a bit distracted making sure they didn’t run onto it. Um, to say the least, that is not a good idea with an electric tool that makes thick branches seem like butter, it cuts so easily.
Yeah, you can probably see where I’m going with this.
My youngest came up to me, I looked over at her, didn’t turn it off and got my hand pretty good with it. 7 stitches later, I’m just thankful to God I didn’t cut my hand off. Like I said, I wasn’t looking and that thing cuts things like they are butter. It’s nothing short of God’s grace that my two fingers are still here and I can actually feel them. No nerve damage.

Funny side note. When I came home my husband said, “Man, you did a great job with the hedges you did get cut. When your hand heals you should definitely finish it.”
You have no idea how hard I laughed.
I’m thinking I’m grounded for life from power tools.

This Girl

This Girl is full of life and questions.

This girl is full of energy, not requiring a nap since she was one!
This girl gave the gospel to all the kids in Awana on Wednesday.

This girl marches to the beat of her own drum.

This girl says she wouldn’t want a giraffe (her favorite animal) because they would eat all our leaves.
This girl says it makes her sad to think some of her friends don’t have daddy’s that live with them.
This girl has us all happily wrapped around her little finger.

Without Shoes

Have you ever considered what it would be like to go without shoes? I personally run around barefoot all the time. By choice. I have a couple dozen pair of shoes in my closet that at any time I can grab and run out the door with.

There are a lot of people in this world who don’t have one pair. Not one pair. This can spread disease, cause cuts and infections and inhibit many activities. Consider what your life would be like without shoes.
TOMS brand shoes and Compassion International are trying to change that. April 5, 2011 is the day they have set aside to go shoeless to raise awareness.
Please go to their website to find out more and what you can do raise awareness too.

Another long day is gone and I’m ready

For another long night where I’ll be by your side

Another long day will come and I’ll thank Jesus

That I am alive and that He made you mine

We belong together, you and me

Holding on tight like lock and key
Going strong the way this love should be – a fantasy
And I’m so glad that God made me for you and you for me

Happy 7th Anniversary my love! You are my best friend to laugh with, my biggest cheerleader, my shoulder to cry on, my sounding board and my greatest gift. I’m so thankful for you and am so excited I get to grow old with you. Thank you for seven wonderful years, here’s to many, many more!

Party On!

Ultimate Blog Party 2011

So, unless you live under a blogging rock, you know that the ultimate blog party is going on over at 5 Minutes for Mom right now. I’ve joined in every year they’ve had the party, I think, and met a bunch of my followers and bloggy friends over there. So, I knew I had to join in once again for more fun!

First off, please get comfy and try one of the delicious snacks Lil and I made just for you!

For those of you coming over from the party, introductions are in order…

I’m Amy. I knew you’d never guess from my blog title. I blog occasionally. That may be putting a little mildly. I go in spurts. I’ll post several times in a week and then I might go a week or three with nada. I’d rather have something interesting for people to read than having people scroll through my posts because of the yakking, so there ya have it. Hopefully a little goes a long way here.
This is my first born yahoo, Lilla. She’s just turned 5, is as small as a peanut, she loves pink and anything princess. She never ceases to amaze me with her thoughts on life, God and the world. She often takes my breath away so I find myself blogging about her a lot. She keeps us on our toes and stirs our hearts to love God more. She is super Lilla!

And this is my Anna. She is a 2 year old ball of fire. She is strong willed, silly, rambunctious and full of hugs and kisses. She is ready to take on the world at all times and anything Lilla does Anna thinks she can do better! Her favorite things are small stuffed animals and milk. At anytime of day you will usually find one, if not both, on her. She is Anna banana!

And, of course, no post about me would be complete without showing you my better half. This is Michael, the hubs. He’s strongwilled, kind and 100% boy! God bless him in a house of girls. Even the dog is a girl here! He’s all about Colts football, sci-fi and the stock market. I don’t have a clue about those things, but we make it work anyway. Oh, and he also lost 50 lbs in 3 months this past winter, he’s looking saucy now!

A few other things about me…

I take an obnoxious amount of pictures.

I’m a homeschooler. We started out last year with preschool and are doing kindergarten with Lilla this year. It’s a daily challenge that often has me wondering, “What was I thinking?” I wouldn’t change it for the world.

I’m being shredded by Jillian Michaels right now. The Sadist.
I’m going to Hawaii very shortly with just my husband. Woo hoo!
Just a month later I’m going a mission in trip to work in an orphanage Haiti. Wow.
Finally, we try to live our lives for Christ. He is our only hope. Our life, our breath, the only thing that often keeps us going. He is our everything.
Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope that you will meander around a bit and don’t forget to say hi! I’d love to visit you too! Oh, and I’d love for you to follow me…just click over on the button to your right!
Happy partying!
