Party On!

Ultimate Blog Party 2011

So, unless you live under a blogging rock, you know that the ultimate blog party is going on over at 5 Minutes for Mom right now. I’ve joined in every year they’ve had the party, I think, and met a bunch of my followers and bloggy friends over there. So, I knew I had to join in once again for more fun!

First off, please get comfy and try one of the delicious snacks Lil and I made just for you!

For those of you coming over from the party, introductions are in order…

I’m Amy. I knew you’d never guess from my blog title. I blog occasionally. That may be putting a little mildly. I go in spurts. I’ll post several times in a week and then I might go a week or three with nada. I’d rather have something interesting for people to read than having people scroll through my posts because of the yakking, so there ya have it. Hopefully a little goes a long way here.
This is my first born yahoo, Lilla. She’s just turned 5, is as small as a peanut, she loves pink and anything princess. She never ceases to amaze me with her thoughts on life, God and the world. She often takes my breath away so I find myself blogging about her a lot. She keeps us on our toes and stirs our hearts to love God more. She is super Lilla!

And this is my Anna. She is a 2 year old ball of fire. She is strong willed, silly, rambunctious and full of hugs and kisses. She is ready to take on the world at all times and anything Lilla does Anna thinks she can do better! Her favorite things are small stuffed animals and milk. At anytime of day you will usually find one, if not both, on her. She is Anna banana!

And, of course, no post about me would be complete without showing you my better half. This is Michael, the hubs. He’s strongwilled, kind and 100% boy! God bless him in a house of girls. Even the dog is a girl here! He’s all about Colts football, sci-fi and the stock market. I don’t have a clue about those things, but we make it work anyway. Oh, and he also lost 50 lbs in 3 months this past winter, he’s looking saucy now!

A few other things about me…

I take an obnoxious amount of pictures.

I’m a homeschooler. We started out last year with preschool and are doing kindergarten with Lilla this year. It’s a daily challenge that often has me wondering, “What was I thinking?” I wouldn’t change it for the world.

I’m being shredded by Jillian Michaels right now. The Sadist.
I’m going to Hawaii very shortly with just my husband. Woo hoo!
Just a month later I’m going a mission in trip to work in an orphanage Haiti. Wow.
Finally, we try to live our lives for Christ. He is our only hope. Our life, our breath, the only thing that often keeps us going. He is our everything.
Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope that you will meander around a bit and don’t forget to say hi! I’d love to visit you too! Oh, and I’d love for you to follow me…just click over on the button to your right!
Happy partying!

The Party Post!

Ultimate Blog Party 2010

Thanks for stopping by my little corner of the net. I’ve been blogging for nearly five years now, but am not the most regular of bloggers. When I only had one child I blogged just about every day for awhile there, but life gets in the way and…well, I’m sure many of you know how that goes.

So, let me tell you a little about myself. I’m sure you will never guess my name, from my blog title, but I am Amy. I am a recovering social worker, I stay at home with my girls these days, and probably the only conservative one you will ever meet. I’ve never met another, that’s for sure! I like to do creative things, like draw and paint and scrapbook, but I’m not particularly good at any of them. I wish I had more time to learn, but maybe someday I will. I also enjoy baking, I think it’s so fun to have people enjoy the yummy morsels you make. I can cook on my own, but baking I use recipes, like this one I found on I Am Baker’s website:
And let me just say it was delicious!! Very time consuming, but yuuuuummm!!

I also really love photography. Part of that artist in me too. I’m always looking at things thinking of how I would take a picture of them to make it look the best. I think my family thinks I’m the paparazzi I take so many pictures. Always looking for that best shot!

Here’s me with my husband, Michael. He looks very goofy in this picture. Unless you take a picture when he’s not suspecting it, he always looks goofy. Something about camera anxiety maybe. He needs a diagnosis for sure!

Michael is a great guy. Very smart, hardworker (he manages a team of stockbrokers), loves his family, loves his God even more, is a great provider for all of us and best of all, agrees that it is in the best interest of our kids for me to stay home with them and hopefully homeschool them in grade school. He also loves Star Wars, Colts football and video games, but, we won’t hold it against him. He also works with the kids in kids church and you can tell why they love him! Also living in my house is my 4 year old firstborn, Lilla. Lilla means beauty, innocence and purity, and she is all of the above and so much more. She is a very smart, thoughtful girl with a hilarious sense of whimsy about her. You just never know what this child is going to say next. The other day on the way to Awana she asked me why we were put on Earth!
Try answering that so a four year old can understand it. Wow! I homeschool Lilla for preschool, although not regularly enough. As she is starting to learn to read though I think we will probably start kindergarten in the fall.
Lilla enjoys writing letters, designing art projects, dressing up,

dancing and sings

saying “I love you”, playing with her best friend, Gracie, baking with mommy, jumping on the trampoline and making her sister bounce up and down, have books read to her, eat pepperoni and drink apple juice, ponder deep thoughts and scream at the top of her lungs. That last part is not my favorite. No, really. 🙂

My second daughter is now 15 months. Her name is Anna and she is an absolute ball of fire. She is so spirited in all she does and doesn’t do anything half way. She laughs with her whole heart, hugs with her whole heart and screams with her whole heart too. She is even louder than my older one!
Anna is a daddy’s girl, and she looks and acts like him too! She is very mechanically inclined and can put things together, and pull them apart, quicker than anyone we know!
She also puts everything in her mouth. And I mean EVERYTHING!

Anna loves to wear jewelry, particularly necklaces, as seen in the above picture. She is also, finally, learning to walk. She crawls so fast you can hardly keep track of her so we can only imagine what she’ll do once she begins walking. I spend most of my days doing this:
She took 8 steps in a row today, so we are making progress!

We affectionately refer to her as King Kong, and this is why:

We also have a four legged friend living with us, her name is Ellie Mae. She is a 6 1/2 year old beagle that just loves us to death, but who drives me batty with her fur and her licking. Still, we do love her and can really not see our home without Ms. Ellie.
Thanks for stopping in to meet us today! I hope that you will tell me you stopped by, leave a note and I will drop by to meet and greet you too!

My Ultimate Blog Party Post 2009

Welcome to my little corner of the web, Amy’s blah, blah, blogging. As you have probably gathered by now, my name is Amy. My husband, Michael, and I thought we would welcome you with some fun party hats. I’d put on some Cyndi Lauper and Abba, however, I can’t remember how! Very typical me let me tell you! There should also be a big bowl of orange sherbet, pineapple juice and ginger ale punch…I just need to figure out what I did with that punch bowl. Urgh…someone needs to clean house a little…oops!

Forgive me, I did just have my 2nd child in December and have since seemed to have lost my mind…along with the punch bowl, of course, since! Fortunately for me, I haven’t lost either of the children, that is, yet. My 3 year old has tried to get lost several times, thankfully a wonderful, what I’m sure must have been a mom, invented a backpack monkey that you too can pick up at Target.

God bless it. Yep, I’m one of those cruel moms with a kid on a leash…and, I still have that wild monkey of a three year old as a result! Woo hoo! I’m doing pretty good!

We are starting our party a bit late this year because we just got back from a trip to San Francisco. Such fun to get away from the midwest for a few days. Not any warmer there to be sure, but they do have some of the greatest food there. So many choices, so little time!

The last two years I’ve had so much fun at the UBP and I’ve been so fortunate to win prizes both times. I really hope this year does not break that cycle. I just love winning things, who doesn’t right? And there are so many great things to win this year, like an artisian stand mixer, a $50 giftcard to Target, a $50 gift card to Born to Impress, another $50 giftcard to Target, and yet another $50 giftcard to Target, (can you guess what I REALLY want?), $50 gift card to Hatley, A Hotslings Sling and Nursing Cover Combo, a $25 giftcard to Target, and so many other things. You know I’d love a gift card that I could use, but being that I have an infant and a 3 year old, really anything for that age group would work too!

I’ve recently joined the ranks of babywearing moms. In fact, we didn’t even take a stroller to San Fran. One of us wore our little girl the whole trip! And boy, did she get spoiled! She adored every minute of it! We have also just started our first compost pile. Soon we are going to plant our vegetable garden and I can’t wait! Nothing like fresh vegetables picked from the garden.

I have, admittedly, been a real slacker in the blogging world since I had my little Anna in December. Two really does make a big difference in time consumption. I do try to hop on Tuesday or Wednesday to do a list of ten things that have brought us smiles in the past week, we call it Ten Smile Tuesday. It is great for reminding me of my blessings, as sometimes they can get lost in the laundry or dishes! Hopefully as we get a better routine going in the next few months I’ll better be able to blog as I once did.

Thank you so much for stopping by and visiting with us, leave me a comment so I can stop by and say hi to you too! Oh, and one last little smile from my peanut…

Gotta go to the party and meet some more of you at http://www.5minutesformom.com/
