Favorite Verses

I just thought I’d write down some of my favorite verses.  Both to remind myself of God’s promises and goodness, and to share with you my heart.

Micah 6:8 He has showed you, O man, what is good.  And what does the Lord require of you?  To act justly, to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

Job 19:25-27 I know that my Redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand upon the earth.  and after my skin has been destroyed yet in my flesh I will see God; I myself will see him with my own eyes – I, and not another.  How my heart yearns within me.

Psalm 34:5 Those who look to Him are radiant.

Psalm 139:13, 14 For you created my inmost being, you knit me together in my mother’s womb.  I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.

Isaiah 40:29-31 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.  Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.   They will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Isaiah 43:18-19 Forget the former things, do not dwell on the past.  See, I am doing a new thing!  Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?  I am making a way in the desrt and streams in the wasteland.

Jeremiah 29:11-14 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.  Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me and I will listen to you.  You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.  I will be fund by you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back from captivity.”

Joel 2:25 I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten.

Habakkuk 1:5 Look at the nations and watch and be utterly amazed.  For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe even if you were told.

Joshua 24:15 But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.

James 1:27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this; to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from becoming polluted by the world.

Phil 4:13 I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.

Phil 4:6, 7 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

2 Cor. 4:10 We always carry around in our body the death of jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.

Matthew 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.

Matthew 6:19-21 Do not store up for yourselves treasures on Earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where theives break in and steal.  but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.  For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

One of my favorites, as one who witnesses questions in educated folks sometimes, is Hebrews 11: 1… “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.”
It blesses me beyond belief that Perrin chose, as her confirmation verse, one that I have underlined just a little before ~ Hebrews 10:22… “let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.” I have the preceding and a little afterwards underlined as well.
Best of all, I have my copy of scripture that I underline things in and write in the margins so I have a reminder of where I’ve been in this journey.
    Have a great day!

I’ve loved looking around your blog. I noticed you are right next to me on WordPress’ “Growing Blogs” page (woo hoo!) Thanks for sharing your favorite verses. I’ll have to consider doing that too. I really like it. And you have a lot of my favorite verses sprinkled around your blog. I’m still trying to figure out how to get “Verse of the Day” in my sidebar! Kudos to you and your blog (LOVE the title too!), -e.

I love the Joshua 24 verse. A couple years back a co-worker gave me a clock with that verse and it is such a good reminder.
