I took this last year while vacationing over Memorial Day in the Smokey Mountains. It’s on one of the trails, not sure which, but it is beautiful! You gotta love a walk like that!

So my friend, Tammy, over at It’s a Wonderful Life, is starting this new Monday Meme called Milestone Mondays. Basically it is documenting milestones that have recently occurred in your family for all posterity. The big one that has happened with the peanut in the past couple of weeks is getting 4 molars. You can see her massive amounts of drool in the picture above. She has been in a whole heck of a lot of pain, but maybe it is better to get them all at once like that rather than dragging it all out. Anyway, there is a the peanut milestone for ya!

Is a handbag still a handbag if it has diapers in it?

So, I’ve been tagged to show you the handbag that I carry by Steph over at Adventures in Babywearing. I don’t think you could actually call this diaper bag a handbag because it’s an embaressment to good little Coach carrying mamas everywhere! It’s from Target, Amy Coe, has oh so elegant lepoard print on the inside and, if you look at the back, has big old letters spelling out most of the peanut’s name for the little old ladies who work in the nursery. They love that I leave that on there!

Seasons Change

I think I am going through a season of not being all that interested in blogging anymore. I may have overdone it as I was totally in love and obsessed with it for a time. I find myself doing that with a lot of things. I become enthralled and passionate about them and then overtime burn out and quit. It was one of the reasons I wasn’t sure if I should get married. I had done that with many boyfriends previous to my husband and I was concerned it would happen again. Fortunately, I will be married 3 years next week and there is no such sign of that happening!

Anyway, it makes for some pretty boring blogging lately, but, I don’t feel alone. I feel like a lot of my blogging buddies are in the same place in their blogging lives. Maybe it will be for a season, maybe forever. I really love to write and it does give me such a creative outlet, so I am by no means stopping, I just feel a need to explain why my blog title fits so well right now…it’s all just blah, blah, blah it seems. No real substance! Also, my blogwalking is few and far between and I think that may explain why I’m not visiting quite as much.

I also feel like the warmer weather has kept me away. I just want to be enjoying the fresh air, the outside and long walks. It has really been great in that way!

the peanut has enjoyed being outside, but she has been such a bear lately! She refuses to eat anything so I believe she is hungry all the time. Also, with the addition of all these teeth I really believe she is in pain. We are keeping the asthetaminaphine companies in business I tell ya! Hey, I know that was spelled way wrong and I’m okay with that! Anyway, her constant crying and fussing has worn me out and I feel like I have nothing left to give at the end of each day. I’m so tired all the time. I’m praying to God that He will give me the patience I need to not be frustrated with her. I love her so much and I don’t want our relationship to be one where I’m constantly getting aggravated. I honestly don’t know how parents with collicky babies do it! It would be so hard! Also, Michael is in Denver all this next week so life just got a little crazier. I am going to be pretty busy, I made sure of that, so I think the week will go pretty fast anyway!

Well anyway, I just thought I’d check in. I hope you all have a great week!

Who is your favorite news anchor/reporter? Why?

Tom Brokaw. Even though he is much more liberal than I am, there is something about him I like. I like the way he reports. He is also so into history, as I am. I find him fascinating.

Soup
Name 3 foods that are currently in your freezer.

Meatballs, Brats, frozen corn.

Salad
If you were to have the opportunity to name a new town or city, what would you call it?

Peanutville. Hey, that could work!

Main Course
What will most likely be the next book you read?

I think we are about to do a study in our small group on the gifts of the spirit. That would be the next book, I’m sure.

Dessert
What’s the first thing you notice about the opposite gender?

Appearance wise probably height since I’m so short. 5′1 in case you are wondering. Non appearance would be their sense of humor. You can always tell off the bat if someone has one!

Easter Cookies

A friend sent me this story and recipe for Easter cookies and a good way to talk to your kids about the Easter story in a way that they will love! Lilla is a little too young this year but next year I’m totally doing it!

Easter Cookies
——————————————————————————–
The following recipe is making its rounds on the Internet as a freely-reproducible file. If you find it a useful visual aid for communicating the message of the resurrection to children, please pass it on!

Ingredients:
1 c. whole pecans
1 tsp. vinegar
3 egg whites
pinch salt
1 c. sugar

You will also need:
Bible
re-sealable baggie
wooden spoon
mixing bowl
electic mixer
cookie sheet
waxed paper
tape

Directions:
Preheat oven to 300 degrees F.

Place pecans in zipper baggie and let children beat them with the wooden spoon to break into small pieces. Explain that after Jesus was arrested He was beaten by the Roman soldiers. Read John 19:1-3.

Let each child smell the vinegar. Put 1 tsp. vinegar into mixing bowl. Explain that when Jesus was thirsty on the cross, He was given vinegar to drink. Read John 19:28-30.

Add egg whites to vinegar. Eggs represent life. Explain that Jesus gave His life so that we could have life. Read John 10:10-11.

Sprinkle a little salt into each child’s hand. Let them taste it and brush the rest into the bowl. Explain that this represents the salty tears shed by Jesus’ followers. Read Luke 23:27.

So far the ingredients are not very appetizing. Add 1 cup sugar. Explain that the sweetest part of the story is that Jesus died because He loves us. He wants us to know and belong to Him. Read Psalm 34:8 and John 3:16.

Beat with a mixer on high speed for several minutes until stiff peaks are formed. Explain that the color white represents the purity in God’s eyes of those whose sins have been cleansed by Jesus. Read Isaiah 1:18 and John 3:1-3.

Fold in broken nuts. Drop by teaspoons onto wax paper covered cookie sheet. Explain that each mound represents the rocky tomb where Jesus’ body was laid. Read Matthew 27:57-60.

Put the cookie sheet in the oven, close the door and turn the oven OFF. Give each child a piece of tape and seal the oven door. Explain that Jesus’ tomb was sealed. Read Matthew 27:65-66.

GO TO BED! Explain that they may feel sad to leave the cookies in the oven overnight. Jesus’ followers were in despair when the tomb was sealed. Read John 16:20-22.

On Easter morning, open the oven and give everyone a cookie. Notice the cracked surface and take a bite. The cookies are hollow! Explain how the tomb was empty on the first Easter because Christ had risen from the dead! Read Matthew 28:1-9.
